Porcelain Veneers in Carmel Valley

Porcelain Veneers Services

Think of a porcelain veneer as a tiny mask that conceals your tooth’s imperfections — transforming it into the ideal shape, size, and color.

At Gentle Dentistry of Carmel Valley, Dr. Maggie Abadan places porcelain veneers for her San Diego cosmetic dentistry patients. Because of their versatility, veneers are one of the most popular solutions for brightening and perfecting a smile.

What are Porcelain Veneers?

Veneers are thin, custom-crafted pieces of porcelain that slip over the front surface of your teeth to enhance their cosmetic appearance. While veneers can be made from a variety of materials, Dr. Maggie Abadan prefers porcelain because its natural translucence closely mimics real tooth enamel.

Each veneer is carefully designed in a dental laboratory to be strong, durable, and beautiful. Porcelain veneers are commonly placed on teeth that are:

  • Stained or deeply discolored
  • Worn or dull
  • Chipped or cracked
  • Misshapen or unevenly aligned
  • Fractured or overlapping

How Porcelain Veneers Can Revamp Your Smile

Veneers camouflage a wide range of dental flaws and blemishes. Once placed, they enhance the uniformity and evenness of your smile.

Veneers can also improve teeth discoloration when whitening treatments are not effective, and in some cases may even help correct minor bite-related problems.

What to Expect During Veneer Placement

Because veneers are custom-crafted, placement requires several visits to Dr. Maggie Abadan’s Carmel Valley cosmetic dentistry practice. The process begins with a “fitting” appointment, where impressions of your teeth are taken and sent to a dental laboratory. At this stage, Dr. Abadan will also help you select the best shade so your veneers blend naturally with your surrounding teeth.

To prepare the tooth for the veneer, Dr. Abadan removes a small amount of tooth structure and slightly reshapes the tooth. For your comfort, she can provide dental sedation and/or local anesthesia. A temporary veneer may be placed to protect the tooth until the permanent veneer is ready.

Once your custom veneer is crafted and returned from the dental lab, you’ll return to Dr. Abadan’s office for final placement. She carefully slips the veneer over your tooth and bonds it in place using a strong dental adhesive or cement. Final adjustments are made to ensure the correct fit and proper bite alignment.

The final step is quick and simple — and once complete, you can begin enjoying your rejuvenated, natural-looking smile.

Benefits of Porcelain Veneers

Porcelain veneers are designed to look so natural in color and shape that they blend seamlessly with your surrounding teeth. Most people won’t know you have veneers — they’ll simply notice your brighter, whiter, and more confident smile.

Veneers can correct minor spacing issues more quickly than Invisalign®, and they cover stains that teeth whitening cannot remove. Unlike dental crowns, veneers require minimal enamel reduction while still achieving dramatic improvements.

Made from strong, durable porcelain, veneers are resilient and long-lasting. You won’t need to restrict your diet or avoid your favorite foods. With proper care, veneers last for many years — the American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry reports an average lifespan of 5 to 12 years, with some lasting 20 years or more.
