What to Expect During Veneer Placement
Because veneers are custom-crafted, placement requires several visits to Dr. Maggie Abadan’s Carmel Valley cosmetic dentistry practice. The process begins with a “fitting” appointment, where impressions of your teeth are taken and sent to a dental laboratory. At this stage, Dr. Abadan will also help you select the best shade so your veneers blend naturally with your surrounding teeth.
To prepare the tooth for the veneer, Dr. Abadan removes a small amount of tooth structure and slightly reshapes the tooth. For your comfort, she can provide dental sedation and/or local anesthesia. A temporary veneer may be placed to protect the tooth until the permanent veneer is ready.
Once your custom veneer is crafted and returned from the dental lab, you’ll return to Dr. Abadan’s office for final placement. She carefully slips the veneer over your tooth and bonds it in place using a strong dental adhesive or cement. Final adjustments are made to ensure the correct fit and proper bite alignment.
The final step is quick and simple — and once complete, you can begin enjoying your rejuvenated, natural-looking smile.
